Accessibility statement
Everyone should be able to use Urban Assist. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 AA, test with assistive technologies where we can, and fix accessibility issues quickly when you tell us about them.
Our commitment
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. That means perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust — text alternatives, keyboard access, sufficient contrast, resizable text, and compatibility with screen readers.
What we do
- Design tokens with a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text; interactive targets at least 44px.
- Keyboard-navigable flows for booking, messaging, and account actions.
- Semantic HTML, landmarks, and ARIA where native elements need augmentation.
- Automated accessibility checks across our routes alongside ongoing manual screen-reader testing.
- Alternative formats on request — if you need information in large print, easy read, or another format, we will provide it.
Compatibility
The site is built to work with current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari, and with screen readers including VoiceOver (macOS/iOS) and NVDA/JAWS (Windows). Older browsers may still work but are not actively tested.
If you use keyboard only, you can tab through the site, open menus with Enter or Space, and dismiss dialogs with Escape. Focus is managed so dialogs and drawers trap correctly.
Known limitations
We are working on:
- Map previews — alternatives are provided as text addresses and booking details.
- Some third-party embeds (Stripe payment form, Google Maps) — we provide accessible alternatives for the booking and payment information outside the embed.
If you encounter a barrier, we will fix it. A fix for a confirmed issue on a core journey (search, book, pay, message) is prioritised as a defect, not a feature request.
Feedback and contact
If you experience an accessibility issue:
- Email info@urbanassist.co.uk with the page URL, the assistive technology and browser you use, and what went wrong.
- We reply within one working day. Support hours are 8am–8pm, seven days a week. We will share a timeline for a fix.
Enforcement
Under the Equality Act 2010 we must make reasonable adjustments. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) or the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) for advice, or raise the matter under our complaints process via info@urbanassist.co.uk.
Assessment and review
This statement was prepared on 5 August 2026 and last reviewed on 5 September 2026. We assess the site against WCAG 2.1 AA on each significant release and at least annually, using automated testing and, as it progresses, manual assistive-technology checks.
